PIN HIGH CLINICS IN ETIOLLES MAY 30th TO JUNE 3rd
AIM OF THE CLINIC :
- Preparing and obtaining the GVB
- Improving your technical acknowledges
- Personal adaptation to these technical drills
- Set up of a more confident swing, to avoid future physical
problems
PRESENTATION OF THE METHOD :
To hit a golf ball properly, you need to respect a few fundamental rules :
- The hitting posture is
the same as the starting
posture
- The swing is as symetrical as possible (The
finishing posture is a consequence of the speed, not an obligation)
- The path of the club is the same during the backswing
and the downswing
What is going to be important is the fact that you have to find the points you
have to pass by, instead of the physical way you have to move .
AFTERNOON :
WOOD ON A TEE :
DAY 3 : Wednesday June 1st
The "important things" at that point of the swing are : right arm parrallel to the ground and the shaft making an angle of 90° with the right forearm.
DAY 5 : Friday June 3rd
We worked on the "chipping-putting shot", safe shot around the green. Don't forget that the way you hit the ball on a short shot is the same as a long shot.
|
On the second picture, you can see your main mistakes. You try to have a very wide backswing and that makes you move too much (hips moving to the right and arms bending too much). On the first picture, you can see you're able to turn around the middle of your body. To do so, you must use your knees and straighten your arms. |
These are your two mistakes. Sometimes, as you see on the middle picture, you "fall" on the ball, to try to find it. Your head doesn't stay at the same level. You will move up to hit the ball and maybe top it. On the third picture, the correction was almost good. Nevertheless, your head moved down and left and that prevents you from straightening your arms the way you do on the first picture.
On the second and third picture, you can see that the follow through is too small. Look at the difference between the first picture and the others. Try to keep your hands low longer to be able to have the right follow through.
|
The difference between these two pictures is in the way your head is moving towards the traget while you straighten your arms. That makes the arms point towards the left of the target. You have to do the same as you do on the first picture, with your head more steady. Good job with your knees. |
The problem, as you see, is the fact that you don't straighten your arms while hitting the ball. On the third picture, you are even bending them, and you can see that your head is much "up". Good job with your knees, too. Take confidence in your game and trust your "short" swing. Keep on playing with your forearms and knees.
|
This swing was an exageration, but that is why I kept the picture. That's what you have to work on. On the downswing, think about using your knees to prevent the head from "diving" to the ball because the consequence of that is that you bend your arms. Use both arms and knees at the same time as you did it on the first picture. |
Problem on the middle picture is what we improved this week. Your backswing was too short and that made you top the ball very often. You're not yet as large as on the first picture, but you know now what to do (turn your shoulders and lift your hands). On the third picture, it is almost good. Just your head is moving a little bit towards the target.
On these pictures, you can see the improvement of your golf week. The picture in the middle is what you did at the beginning of the week (backswing too short, head "diving" and no wrists loading). On the third picture, you're now turning your knees, your left arm is parrallel to the ground and the club is 90° with your left forearm. That's a perfect backswing. Keep on working like this.
|
It looks like you are chipping, but this was supposed to be a full swing. That's what you have to work on. Use your knees more on the downswing to be able to starighten your arms. Don't forget that to have a wide follow through, you need a full backswing. |
I want to tell you that I enjoyed a lot to work with all of you and I hope to see you again in another PinHigh location
