STAGE  DECOUVERTE 11th, 18th, 25th of mars  et 1st of avril 2003

LESSON  N° 1 : Game basics, different parts of the game (long shot, short game)

LE GOLF BAG :
You can find 14 different clubs in a golf bag. The differences are the angles of the club faces (which help to make the ball fly) or the length of the shafts (which make the ball fly further)

THE BASICS :

* Warm up (rythm of the swing, impact spot)
* Try to finish the swing by letting the body turn at the end of the swing
* Give importance to the direction of the shot by throwing the right arm towards the target

To hit a golf ball, you have to hit it and throw it at the same time. Some shots are hitten downwards to make them fly high (with short clubs), and some are hitten "following through" the impact zone to make them go further.

To hit a ball correctly, you have to respect a few technical laws :
- an aiming posture (The posture you take to hit the ball), a grip
- a club path, the same in the downswing than in the backswing
- an impact spot (and so an impact posture)

LESSON N° 2 : March 18th  2003

WARM UP :
- Hit the first balls softly and relax. The swing is slow to warm up the body

BUNKER :(See bunker page)
- Contact with the ground
- The swing is always wide and strong
- We send the sand on the green
- The weight of the body on the left leg (for right handed) helps to hit the ground

PUTTING : (See putting page)
- Same swing on the right and on the left
- No wrists action (to keep on controling the club face)
- Beware the slopes of the greens

PLAYING ON THE COURSE :
- Tee marks (white for men playing very well, yellow for other men, red for women)
- Order of playing (as you want for the first shot, and then the one scoring the best on the previous hole plays the first)
- Priorities (if you play too slow, you must let the people behind you pass through. that means you let them play before you)
- Choice of the right club according to the shot you want to play (most of the time 7 iron on the tee, and then 9 iron closed to the green)
